SUMMARY

This article describes the 2007 Microsoft Office system issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated December 16, 2008.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package also fixes the following issues that are not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • You try to restrict the permissions for an Office file. When you grant permission to a user whose e-mail address contains an ampersand (&), such as some&one@microsoft.com, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
E-mail addresses must be in the form of 'someone@example.com'. The following e-mail address is not valid or could not be resolved: 'some&one@microsoft.com'. Verify that this is a valid e-mail address.
However, the ampersand (&) should be a valid character in the e-mail address.
  • When you check the spelling in a Word document that contains the content in English (Australia), Word 2007 may experience slow performance.
  • After you apply hotfix 953474, the Office templates that are automatically installed as part of the 2007 Office system are removed from the FileNew dialog box as expected when you open the FileNew dialog box from a 2007 Office application. However, when you open the FileNew dialog box by clicking the New Office Document shortcut on the Start menu, the Office templates that are automatically installed as part of the 2007 Office system are still listed in the FileNew dialog box.

Note The New Office Document shortcut is shown on the Start menu if the "New and Open Microsoft Office Document Shortcuts" component is enabled when you install the 2007 Office system.

  • You use the Sinhala locale on a Windows Vista-based computer. In this case, when you create a recurring meeting that occurs in the afternoon in Outlook 2007, the start time of the meetings will be converted unexpectedly to a morning time.
