INTRODUCTION

Microsoft Equipt will be discontinued after April 30, 2009.

If you have Microsoft Equipt installed, this update will notify you periodically that Microsoft Equipt is being discontinued. This update will be automatically downloaded and installed if Windows Update is enabled.

The programs that are included in Microsoft Equipt will no longer be fully functional after April 30, 2009. The following programs will be affected:
  • Office Home and Student 2007. Microsoft Office will stop receiving subscription license updates and will enter reduced functionality mode. You will still be able to view Office documents, but you will be unable to create or edit documents.
  • Windows Live OneCare. OneCare will stop receiving the periodic updates that are required for continued security protection.
You should uninstall Microsoft Equipt from all computers after April 30, 2009. We recommend that you install another version of Microsoft Office and replace your antivirus software. To uninstall Microsoft Equipt, use one of the following procedures, depending on your operating system.

If you are running Windows Vista, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
  3. In the program list, click Microsoft Equipt.
  4. At the top of the page, click Uninstall.
If you are running Windows XP, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft Equipt, and then click Remove.
