A meeting update does not appear in Outlook Web Access after a meeting organizer updates the time of one meeting occurrence in an Exchange Server 2003 environment

SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 environment, an organizer sends a recurring meeting request to attendees. Then, the organizer sends an update to change the time of one meeting occurrence. In this case, the attendees can see the updated meeting in the Microsoft Office Outlook client. However, the update is not available in Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when a user who uses a Collaboration Data Objects (CDO)-based third-party application accepts the recurring meeting.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problemP1 that P2 described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problemP1 described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the following services are restarted automatically when you apply this hotfix:
  • The Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service
  • The Microsoft Search service
  • The Internet Information Services (IIS) Admin Service and all dependent services
