Symptoms

In Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1, you use the Windows Software Update Services (WSUS) feature or the Software Update Management (SUM) feature to deploy some updates to some client computers. However, these updates are not deployed successfully to the client computers. This problem occurs randomly. Additionally, information that resembles the following is logged in the UpdatesDeployment.log file on the affected client computers:Assignment does not contain any updates
No updates were added to the job, returning failure
FillinCIJob( spCIJob, m_arrUpdatesInfo, true , true ), HRESULT=80004005

As an alternate way to resolve this problem, apply this hotfix on all System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 clients.

Hotfix installation instructions

  1. Install the hotfix package on each System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 site server. A package will be generated on the site server.

  2. Deploy the second package to all client computers.
