SYMPTOMS

You install security update 926857 for Visual Basic 6.0 Service Pack 6 runtime extended files. Then, in the Visual Basic 6.0 form designer, you right-click the Mswinsck.ocx ActiveX control (Winsock Control) and then click Properties to edit the properties. In this scenario, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
Out of memory

CAUSE

This error is caused by an array index off-by-one bug that occurs while the properties of the control are being fetched.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use the menu bar or the F4 keyboard shortcut to open the ActiveX control properties.
