This article describes the 2007 Microsoft Office system issues that are fixed in the Office 2007 hotfix package that is dated December 16, 2008.
This article describes the following items about the hotfix package:
  • The issues that the hotfix package fixes.
  • The prerequisites for installing the hotfix package.
  • Whether you must restart the computer after you install the hotfix package.
  • Whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other hotfix packages.

INTRODUCTION

This hotfix fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • When you apply certain picture styles in Microsoft Office Excel 2007, clip art shrinks to a small image in the upper-left corner of the Picture Styles frame.
  • Certain fonts that are used in Microsoft Office PowerPoint presentations are not displayed as expected when you open the presentations in PowerPoint 2007.
  • In PowerPoint 2007, the edit points in a freeform shape are not positioned exactly when you try to drag-and-drop them to a new exact location.
  • In PowerPoint 2007, you receive the following error message when you try to update an Excel chart that is stored in an HTTP location:
    The linked file is not available
    This issue occurs even if the linked location is valid.

Prerequisites

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.For this hotfix to be enabled, follow the steps provided in this section to add the AliasedDMToMetafilePlus registry entry.
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit , and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\Charting
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New , and then click DWORD Value .
  4. Type AliasedDMToMetafilePlus , and then press ENTER.
  5. Right-click AliasedDMToMetafilePlus , and then click Modify .
  6. In the Value data box, type 1 , and then click OK .
  7. Exit Registry Editor.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix does not replace a previously released hotfix.

Registry information

To use one of the hotfixes in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.

The Global version of this hotfix package uses a Microsoft Windows Installer package to install the hotfix package.
