Bug #: 50004043 (SQL Hotfix)

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services, you have a mining model. The mining model was created by using the Time Series algorithm. The mining model contains nested tables. You install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Data Mining Add-ins for Office 2007. Then, you browse the mining model in Microsoft Office Excel 2007 by using the mining model viewer control. In this scenario, you may find that the chart of the mining model is empty and cannot be displayed.

RESOLUTION

The fix for this issue was first released in Cumulative Update 3. For more information about how to obtain this cumulative update package for SQL Server 2008, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
960484 Cumulative update package 3 for SQL Server 2008
Note Because the builds are cumulative, each new fix release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 fix release. We recommend that you consider applying the most recent fix release that contains this hotfix. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Note After you apply this hotfix, you must manually copy the Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Viewers.dll file from the folder where the cumulative update is installed to the SQL Server 2008 Data Mining Add-ins folder. By default, the cumulative update will install the .dll file in the following folder:
<Program Files>\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE
You must copy the .dll file to the following folder:
<Program Files>\Microsoft SQL Server 2008 DM Add-Ins
The fix will be included in the next version of the SQL Server 2008 Data Mining Add-ins.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
