Description of Windows Small Business Server 2008 Update Rollup 2

Windows Small Business Server (Windows SBS) 2008 Update Rollup 2 is now available. This rollup package addresses the following issues in Windows Small Business Server 2008.

Issue 1
After you configure Windows Small Business Server 2008, you use the Group Policy Management console to manually change the Favorites and Links setting for Windows Internet Explorer in the default domain Group Policy settings. However, when you run the Internet Address Management Wizard, the wizard exits unexpectedly.

Issue 2
When you try to access the http://companyweb Web site from a server that is running Windows Small Business Server 2008, you receive the following error message: Issue 3
In the Add a New User Account Wizard, the order of the Last Name field and the First Name field is reversed. This problem occurs in the following language versions of Windows Small Business Server 2008:

• Chinese (Simplified)
• Chinese (Traditional)
• Japanese
• Korean

Issue 4
In the Italian versions of Windows Small Business Server 2008, when you click Connect to a Computer in the Remote Web Workplace, you browse to an invalid Web page.

Issue 5
The Windows SBS Console stops responding when duplicate entries of antivirus programs are reported in the client WMI database.

Issue 6
The Windows SBS Console reports "unknown" for some firewall programs that are installed on client computers.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites are required.

Restart requirement

You may have to restart the computer after you apply this update. To avoid restarting the computer, exit all applications before you install this update. This includes exiting the SBS Console.

Update replacement information

This update does not replace any other updates.

File information

The English version of this update has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.

Removal information

After you install this update, the authentication mode of the http://companyweb Web site is changed from NTLM authentication to Kerberos authentication. Microsoft highly recommends Kerberos authentication instead of NTLM authentication.

After you install this update, you can remove it from the Programs and Features snap-in in Control Panel. However, the change to the authentication mode of the http://companyweb Web site will not automatically reverted to its earlier setting when you remove this update. To revert to the earlier authentication mode for the http://companyweb Web site, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration.
2. On the Application Management tab, click Authentication providers.
3. In the Web Application list, select the Web application for which you want to change the authentication mode.
4. Click the Default zone.
5. On the Edit Authentication page, click NTLM for IIS Authentication Settings, and then click Save.

Known issues in this update

Issue 1

SYMPTOMS
When you install this update, you may receive the following error message:CAUSE
This problem occurs for one or more of the following reasons:

• The zone for the http://companyweb site is changed in the SharePoint Central Administration console.
• The external domain name is unspecified, or the value for the PublicFQDNPrefix registry entry is not set.
  Note The PublicFQDNPrefix registry entry is under the following registry subkey:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Networking
• The http://companyweb site is corrupted.

Issue 2

SYMPTOMS
You open a document from the http://companyweb site after you install this update. You notice that the document may be opened in read-only mode in Windows Internet Explorer.

WORKAROUND
Enable the Client Integration feature in SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration. Issue 3

SYMPTOMS
When you uninstall this update, you may be prompted to insert the Windows Small Business Server 2008 installation DVD.

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps:

1. Copy the Setup folder from the Windows Small Business Server 2008 DVD2 to a local hard disk.
2. In the dialog box that prompts you to insert the DVD, click Browse.
3. Locate the SBS.msi file in the Setup folder on the local hard disk.
4. Continue the un-installation process.
