SYMPTOMS

On a Windows XP-based computer, you have an IEEE 1394 network adapter installed. When you check the IEEE 1394 network adapter in Device Manager, you notice that the device is not listed. Additionally, you notice that the IEEE 1394 connection has disappeared from Network Connections.

This problem occurs when an IEEE 1394 hub is connected to the IEEE 1394 network adapter, but no device is connected to the IEEE 1394 hub.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
