SYMPTOMS

When you try to install the Zune software, you may receive one of following error messages:

Microsoft Update is required

Microsoft Update is required in order to check for updates. Click the link below to get more information about Microsoft Update and to add it to your system.
Error code: 0x80248015

THINGS TO TRY

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

Open Internet Explorer.
Visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate (http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate)
If you have not previously done this, click to "opt in" for Microsoft Updates.

Note You must install the Active X control. To do this, follow the instructions on the screen or follow these steps:
1. Right-click the Internet Explorer information bar, which is located below the address bar.
2. Click Install ActiveX Control.
3. In the Security Warning dialog box, click Install.
Next, check for updates, and then install any high-priority updates that are found.
Reinstall the Zune software.
