You cannot scan public folders in Forefront Security for Exchange Server, and event ID 5014 is logged in the Application log

SYMPTOMS

When you perform a manual scan job to scan public folders in Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server, the scan job fails. When you click Scan Job under Settings in the Forefront Server Security Administrator client, you also may not see any subfolder trees for the Manual Scan job.

Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application event log:

Manual scan failed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server with Service Pack 2 (SP2).
