  • You send a multicast message larger than 64 kilobytes (KB) by using Message Queuing (also known as MSMQ) 3.0.
The multicast message is not delivered as expected in this scenario.

Post-Installation Steps

This hotfix introduces a registry key that lets you configure the size limit of multicast messages. To configure the size limit value, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following subkey in the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RMCAST\Parameters
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type MaxpacketSize, and then press ENTER.
  5. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
  6. Type the value as a desired number of bytes.

Note You can set the size limit to a value between 0 and 4 megabytes (MB). If you specify anything greater than 4 MB, the limit reverts to the default value of 64 KB.
  7. Restart the computer for the configuration to take effect.

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 file information notes
Important Windows 7 hotfixes and Windows Server 2008 R2 hotfixes are included in the same packages. However, hotfixes on the Hotfix Request page are listed under both operating systems. To request the hotfix package that applies to one or both operating systems, select the hotfix that is listed under "Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2" on the page. Always refer to the "Applies To" section in articles to determine the actual operating system that each hotfix applies to.
