Issues that were not previously documented in a Knowledge Base article

Update Rollup 3 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 resolves the following issues that were not previously documented in a Knowledge Base article:
  • When you create associated records on an entity in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, you receive the following error message:
    Query Builder Error.
Additionally, a platform error includes the following information:
Error Number: 0x80041103 Error Message: 'Entity' entity doesn't contain attribute with Name = 'attribute'.
This issue occurs because the attribute mapping between the two entities is not deleted when you delete the relationship that created the fields in the mapping.
  • When you export a data map in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, you receive the following error message:
Internet Explorer cannot download downloadimportmap.aspx from dubcrmusiis.
A record that has a non-Western character map name cannot be exported.
  • When an e-mail message contains multiple users in the To box, the users cannot accept items from an assigned queue. When this issue occurs, the users receive the following error message:
The requested record was not found or you do not have sufficient permissions to view it.
When an e-mail message contains multiple users in the To box, ownership is assigned to the user whose e-mail address is first in alphabetical order. Users who are not assigned as owners cannot accept the e-mail message from the assigned queue.
  • You change the order of the picklist options for a picklist attribute in the entity customizations. However, the new order is not reflected on the entity form in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • In the Japanese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, the English word "Order" is translated incorrectly to "発注" when you try to use the Create new record for a customer option in the Convert Campaign Response dialog box.
  • You create a standard campaign and generate some associated campaign responses. You change the Originating Activity field in a campaign response. When you open the record in the Originating Activity field, you receive the following error message:
An error occurred: The object does not exist
  • When you sort the Mail Merge Template grid by Associated Entity, you receive the following error message in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM platform trace:
TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
  • Consider the following scenario. You create two custom entities. Only one custom entity is available for offline mode in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook. Later, you make both of the custom entities available for offline mode. An N:N relationship between the two custom entities is established. In this scenario, you do not have access to view an N:N relationship record in offline mode.
  • When you create an e-mail activity in a quick campaign and then you select Assign to a queue, the owner ID and the e-mail sender are set to the owner of the bulk operation. When you create an e-mail activity by clicking Send Direct E-mail and then you select Assign to a queue, the sender and the owner are set to the queue ID and to the queue e-mail address.
  • Consider the following scenario. Different users have the same e-mail name in different domains. For example, different users have the following e-mail addresses:
    • someone@example1.com
    • someone@example2.com
In the incoming configuration profile, you test the access for these users. In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
Failure - The remote Microsoft Exchange e-mail server returned the error "(401) Unauthorized". Verify that you have permission to connect to the mailbox. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.
  • When you export labels in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 to provide translation, the Revise menu for a quote is unavailable.
  • When you send e-mail messages by using the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Web client and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 E-mail Router, no display names are set.
  • You send e-mail messages that have multiple lines of text. You send these e-mail messages in plain text format from a POP3 e-mail client. When you view these e-mail messages in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web client, these e-mail messages are displayed without line breaks. All the text is located on one line.
  • Consider the following scenario. You install the update rollup that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 952925. Then, you try to add a user from a trusted domain. Microsoft Dynamics CRM is in a child domain. In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
Error: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
Additionally, you receive the following error message:
[DirectoryServicesCOMException: There is no such object on the server. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80072030)]
  • When you use tree controls in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, subentries are shown in the order of their creation instead of in alphabetical order.
  • When you have a callout that is deployed in a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 deployment, a new instance of the callout is not created every time that the callout fires. This functionality differs from that in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0. If you have properties or fields that are instantiated when a new instance of the callout is constructed, the properties or the fields keep their values from the previous execution. If multiple threads access the same callout at the same time, data from one execution may be accessed from another thread that is accessing the callout.

To resolve this issue, a new instance of the callout is created for each instance. No state is retained in the callout between one instance and the next instance. This functionality is the same as the functionality in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0. This functionality may affect performance, depending on what the callout is doing in its constructor, because the callout constructor is called every time that the callout is executed. In most cases, the effect is minimal.
  • Consider the following scenario. You try to merge records in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. The Reparent option is set to Cascade User-Owned for the relationship between the child record type and the parent record type that you are trying to merge. In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
    NullReferenceException
Additionally, you cannot merge the records.
  • When you convert a lead to an opportunity from inside a marketing list, you receive the following error message:
    An error has occurred.
  • Consider the following scenario. A business unit is reparented in a large organization. However, the process fails during the SetParent transaction. In this scenario, some tables may not be built correctly. This issue occurs because the stored procedures are not run for the rest of the SetParent transaction. Therefore, problems with roles, security, and subscriptions may occur.
  • You cannot run the Account Distribution report or the Account Summary report after an attribute is marked as non-searchable and after a view existed on that attribute. The Advanced Find feature crashes when it loads that view. Therefore, the Advanced Find feature cannot generate the report.
  • On a Windows Server 2008-based computer, you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM by using Internet-Facing Deployment (IFD). Then, you visit the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web client from another Windows Server 2008-based computer by using a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). When you do this, you receive the following error message:
CrmInvalidOperationException: Request IP Address has different address family from network address.
  • Consider the following scenario. You change the value of an attribute. Then, the focus is temporarily changed to another Microsoft Dynamics CRM form or to another Microsoft Dynamics CRM window. In this scenario, the OnChange event for a specific field is not executed.
  • When you access a Web site from a custom NavBarItem element that you created by using the ISV.Config file, you receive the following error message even if the PassParams attribute equals 0:
    404 Error
The PassParams attribute continues to pass some parameters to the URL even if the PassParams attribute equals 0. Some Web sites cannot handle parameters that are not valid being appended. Therefore, these Web sites cannot be displayed.
  • When you click an entry in the left navigation bar, multiple Web requests may be sent to Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • The case number that is generated for Microsoft Dynamics CRM incidents that are created in offline mode by an SDK application is unexpectedly changed after you go online.
  • If the Lookup View of an entity is customized to include a related entity attribute, a duplicate detection rule that is defined for the primary entity cannot display the duplicates that are found.
  • When you sort the marketing list member grid on a column that is not the default sorting column, no records are shown in the grid when you click a character on the jumpbar.
  • You perform a mail merge in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Additionally, you select the Label option in Microsoft Office 2003. When you do this, you receive the following error message:
Run-time error '5941': The requested member of the collection does not exist
  • When you create a workflow rule that contains a step to send an e-mail message, the e-mail body may not be formatted correctly. This issue occurs when the e-mail body consists of data slugs from entity attributes and when the entity attribute contains carriage returns and line feeds.
  • When you run a mail merge from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web client, you receive the following error message:
MailMerge runtime error 5922 'word was unable to open the data source'
This issue occurs if the language in Regional and Language Options is not English.
  • When you click certain days in the calendar in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you receive the following error message:
Relative recurrence generated an interval that is not contained by the scope
This issue occurs if your time zone is Santiago.
  • When you try to perform a mail merge on a large amount of data, the mail merge process fails. You receive the following error message:
An error has occurred in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mail Merge
  • After you install Update Rollup 1, the onChange events still do not occur for fields of the datetime data type if the following conditions are true:
    • The entity form has an onload event that sets a field of the datetime data type that has an onChange event.
    • The entity form contains another field of the datetime data type that displays both the date and the time.
    • Before you change the field that has the onChange event, you set the date value for the other field.
    • You change the time part of the other field first by clicking in the box for the time and then by selecting another time.
    • Finally, you change the time for the field that has the onChange event.
This issue does not occur if you use the lists to set the time part of the fields.
  • Workflow expansion tasks no longer run when you use the Deployment Manager Import Organization Wizard to import an organization in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0.
  • Data that is exported from the Advanced Find feature into a Microsoft Office Excel worksheet may have rows that are duplicated or that are missing. This issue occurs if the Advanced Find clauses include data from a link entity or sort criteria and if the search result generates multiple pages of rows.
  • You execute a workflow rule. The workflow rule contains wait conditions that perform another action when the condition evaluates to true. If the action fails, you cannot resume the workflow even after you resolve the issue that caused the other actions in the wait condition to fail.
  • You cannot view business unit teams if your security role has Business Unit access on the Team entity.
  • When you create a new e-mail activity and then click one of the following items, you receive an error message that asks you to send an error report to Microsoft:
    • Save
    • Save and Close
    • Save and New
    • Send
This issue occurs if you edit the e-mail form so that the first tab is not the E-mail tab.
  • You try to assign a task back to yourself from another owner. You do not receive an error message. But, the owner is not updated.
  • You cannot create notes on the Notes tab of the form if you only have user-level Write access on that entity.
  • You remove the Read privilege for duplicate detection rules on a security role, and then you assign that security role to a user. If the user creates or updates a record that is detected as a duplicate, the Duplicate Detection dialog box appears. But, only the green spinning circle is displayed.
  • You cannot import an organization if you had a custom workflow activity and then you removed the custom workflow activity before you exported the customizations.
  • If a duplicate detection rule is defined to track a DateTime type attribute, the View Duplicates window crashes. This issue occurs when the attribute is empty in multiple records.
  • When you merge leads, the Merge dialog box does not display the expected data if the LastName attributes of the leads are empty.
  • When you change the status code of a lead by using a Change Status step in a workflow, the workflow rule does not finish and remains in the Waiting state.
  • Incoming e-mail messages are not assigned to the resolved contact owner if multiple contacts are in the To box and if one of the contacts is first in alphabetical order. If an organization has a high level of security in which users have only user-level access to contacts and activities, the e-mail message may be resolved to the correct contact. But, the owner of that contact cannot make any changes to the e-mail message.
  • You add the customer field to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM lead form. You create a lead, you populate the customer field, and then you click Save. When you delete the customer from the lead, you receive the following error message:
    Invalid Argument 0x80040203.
Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Crm Exception: Message: Object Type was not provided on attribute: customerid, ErrorCode: -2147220989
You receive the same error messages if you merge two leads that both contain customers.
  • You upgrade an organization from Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. Then, you try to import the customizations for the report entity from the upgraded organization to an organization that is not upgraded. When you do this, the import customization process fails. You receive the following error message:
Failure: report: Import has encountered an error and has been canceled. Your system has been restored to its original state. A new custom entity cannot reuse existing Saved Queries.
  • The Autoresolve icon is missing after you install Update Rollup 1.
  • Consider the following scenario. You create a user query or a saved query. The user query or the saved query contains a condition that uses negative operators. For example, the condition uses the Does Not Contain operator, the Does Not Begin With operator, or the Does Not End With operator. Additionally, the attribute that is used in the filter is a lookup attribute. In this scenario, the value that is specified in the query is not displayed correctly. The saved query executes correctly because the value is maintained in the database. The value for the user query is maintained in the database. However, you have to provide the value again every time that you use it in the Advanced Find feature.
  • You create a fax in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Workgroup Edition that is running on Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2. When you click Send, you receive the following error message:
The fax cannot be sent because this type of attachment is not allowed or does not support virtual printing to a fax device.
  • In the Japanese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, the additional Feature Set options are not added into the database when you create a new organization. In the Japanese version, the additional Feature Set option is the Phonetic Search feature. If you import an organization that already has the additional Feature Set options installed, the additional Feature Set options are lost.
  • You create a business closure. When a user in another time zone views the business closure grid, the time for the business closure is displayed incorrectly. If you open the business closure that displays the incorrect time, the time is correct on the form.
  • The Advanced Find feature returns incorrect information when the filter is set as follows:
Owner Does Not Equal <Current user>
  • A new time zone update is available for Mauritius.
  • You cannot bring in changes or new data offline after you perform more than 2 billion inserts and updates in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 organization database.
  • You cannot open a sales order or a quote that is shared with you if you do not have the Read privilege on the customer record for the sales order or for the quote.
  • The Phonetic Guide feature is lost when you export and then you import. For example, attributes of the phoneticGuide type are not shown in the Attributes view when you import the attributes by using the Import Customization feature. Additionally, you cannot see attributes of the phoneticGuide type on the following Web page:
    http://<crm server>/sdk/list.aspx
  • When you connect by using HTTP instead of by using HTTPS together with IFD Authentication in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, you receive the following error message:
    invalid username or bad password
  • You cannot import an organization in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. This issue occurs if the source organization contains some workflow rules that mention Microsoft Dynamics CRM users who have a quotation mark in the FullName field.
  • Callouts do not fire on the Order Cancel event after you upgrade Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0.
  • The Microsoft Dynamics CRM Async service (Crmasyncservice.exe) crashes. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Microsoft CRM Server Application log:

    Event ID: 17411
    Description:
The description for Event ID ( 17411 ) in Source ( MSCRMAsyncService ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Server, System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Value to add was out of range.

  • When you add a new Microsoft Dynamics CRM user in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 and this Active Directory user has a forward slash in the DistinguishedName field, you receive the following error message:
    0x80005000
  • You cannot populate the Subject field of a case by double-clicking the Subject field. You have to click the magnifying glass icon.
  • When you set up the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook for offline use, the local database uses the roaming application data folder instead of the local application data folder.
