A new feature known as Intelligent Message Filter in Exchange Server 2003 prevents regular messages from being moved to the Junk E-mail folder

In a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 environment, you set the Junk E-mail option to High in the Microsoft Office Outlook client-side. Then, some regular messages are moved to the Junk E-mail folder. Therefore, Exchange Server 2003 provides a new feature known as Intelligent Message Filter (IMF) that fixes this problem.

The administrator can configure a safe domain list that uses wildcard characters by using IMF. A message from those safe domains has a spam confidence level (SCL) score of -1. Therefore, Outlook does not scan the message and does not move it to the Junk E-mail folder.

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Prerequisites

Before you install this hotfix for Exchange Server 2003, you must install Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, you must restart the IIS Admin Service and all the dependent services to apply this hotfix.
