SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows, you have a Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5-based application. This application displays lots of text at different sizes. Or, this application displays only some text but has a very long process lifetime. In this scenario, this application may crash. Additionally, you may receive the following access violation exception error message:
0xC0000005

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.
