When launching Report Viewer it will disappear or give a generic error that it encountered a problem and needs to close. You may see the following error in the Report Viewer log.
Additional information: The RPC server is unavailable
Start the Print Spooler Service by navigating to Start - Control Panel - Services. Then find the Print Spooler service and start it. Also open the properties of the service and check to make sure the service is set to automatically start.
