This article describes the Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2007 issues that are fixed in the Data Protection Manager 2007 hotfix rollup package that is dated February 16, 2009.
Description of the latest hotfix rollup package for System Center Data Protection Manager 2007: March 29, 2010
We highly recommend that you install this update to resolve the problem described in this article and other DPM-related issues.
This hotfix rollup addresses the following issues:
Issue 1
Mount points cannot be protected on secondary DPM servers because mount points are not visible. However, mount points should be displayed as protectable on secondary DPM servers.
Issue 2
After the DPM service crashes, it cannot restart because of a handling failure that occurs during inquiry.
Issue 3
After you migrate DPM data to a new disk, the old recovery points are no longer listed after the DPM server is restarted. Recovery points that are created after the disk was migrated are listed.
Issue 4
After you migrate DPM data to a new disk and then delete the inactive replica, the active replica is dismounted, and recovery points for the replica are not listed.
Issue 5
When you click the Recovery tab and then browse through the list of files to be restored, the DPM service may stop if a file has an invalid time stamp. (A time stamp is invalid if it is for a created or modified date earlier than January 1, 1753.)
Issue 6
You cannot install the DPM protection agent on a system that is running Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008.
When you try to install the DPM protection agent from the DPM user interface, the system that is running Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 is not listed in the agent management list.
When you try to install the DPM protection agent directly on the server, the agent is installed successfully on the computer that is running Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008. However, the attach process that uses the Attach-ProductionServer script fails, and you receive the following error message:
Attach-ProductionServer.ps1 : The following computers do not meet the minimum software requirements for installing the DPM protection agent: <computer name>
Note The hotfix package applies to all DPM 2007 languages.
Update installation instructions
This DPM 2007 rollup package consists of three separate updates. To install each update, follow these steps:
Install the rollup package on the DPM 2007 Service Pack 1 server. To do this, run the DataProtectionManager2007-KB963102.exe file on the server.
Note You do not have to restart the server after you install the hotfix rollup package.
Update the remote Microsoft SQL Server installation that is hosting the DPMDB database. To do this, run the SqlPrep-KB963102.msp file on the instance of SQL Server.
Note This step is not required if you are running an SQL DPMDB instance on the DPM 2007 server.
In the DPM Administrator Console, update the protection agents. To do this, use one of the following methods.
Method 1 Update the protection agents from the DPM Administrator Console. To do this, follow these steps:
Open the DPM Administrator Console.
Click the Management tab, and then click the Agents tab.
In the Protected Computer list, select a computer, and then click Update in the Action pane.
Click Yes, and then click Update Agents.
In the Enter Credentials and Reboot option dialog box, enter your credentials, select the Manually restart the selected servers later option, and then click OK.
Note Because you selected the Manually restart the selected servers later option, you do not have to restart the computer to update the agent.
Method 2 Update the protection agents on the protected computers. To do this, follow these steps:
Obtain the update protection agent package. To do this, follow these steps:
On the DPM 2007 server, locate the following directory:
Data Protection Manager installation location\DPM\Agents\RA\2.0.8824.0
Select the appropriate package. The choice of packages is as follows:
x86 update i386\1033\DPMAgentInstaller_KB963102.exe
A replica may be listed as inconsistent after you install System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 on a computer that is running an x64-based version of Windows Server 2003

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
