SYMPTOMS

"SL133A.tmp - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services -- Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process id=0xdbc (3516). Thread id=0xe0c (3596). Click Ok to terminate the application."

This error occurs when the .NET Framework 1.1 component is being installed during an FRx service pack installation.

CAUSE

This error occurs when an assembly is missing, a P/Invoke call referenced a DLL that is not available or there is a problem with the existing Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 installation.

RESOLUTION

The following will assist in troubleshooting the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 installation.
  • Try profiling the application with Dependency Walker. If a DLL is missing, it should reflect in the trace.

    • You'll see notifications in the bottom panel of Dependency Walker, pay attention to the LoadLibrary calls.
