SYMPTOMS

After you apply hotfix package 956056, a file that has the offline attribute set cannot be crawled by Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007.

To resolve this problem, apply hotfix packages 961749 and 961750, and then enable the packages. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Apply hotfix packages 961749 and 961750.

  2. Enable the hotfix packages. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office Server\12.0\Search\Global\Gather
    3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    4. Type CrawlOfflineFiles, and then press ENTER.
    5. Right-click CrawlOfflineFiles, and then click Modify.
    6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    7. Exit Registry Editor.
