You cannot apply security update 960082 in a Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 environment

In a Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 environment, you try to apply the security update for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (Windows) (WMSDE) that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: By default, this security update is recommended. However, you cannot apply security update 960082 in the Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 environment if a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (Windows) (WMSDE) database that is larger than 2 gigabytes (GB) is present on the server.

To apply the security update, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: For supported 32-bit editions of the Windows SharePoint Services instances of WMSDE

For supported 32-bit editions of the Windows SharePoint Services instances of WMSDE, follow these steps:

1. Download and then install the security update by using one of the links in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
   960082  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960082/ ) MS09-004: Description of the security update for SQL Server 2000 GDR and MSDE 2000: February 10, 2009
2. Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.
3. At the command prompt, copy (or type) the following command, and then press ENTER:
   SQLWMSDE-KB960082-x86-ENU /quiet /upgradesp sqlrun DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=1 DISABLEAGENTSTARTUP=1 DISABLETHROTTLE=1 BLANKSAPWD=1 INSTANCENAME=Sharepoint REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=VEMUS /l*v %windir%WMSDE.log

Method 2: For supported 32-bit editions of the Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) instances of WMSDE

For supported 32-bit editions of the WSUS instances of WMSDE, follow these steps:

1. Download and then install the security update by using one of the links in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
   960082  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960082/ ) MS09-004: Description of the security update for SQL Server 2000 GDR and MSDE 2000: February 10, 2009
2. Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.
3. At the command prompt, copy (or type) the following command, and then press ENTER:
