After you set the Enable RSS Feeds option to No on the Web Application General Settings page in SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration, the search result pages still show the RSS icon.

Note RSS options on libraries and lists, such as the View RSS Feed action, are disabled as expected.

2. Enable the hotfix package. To do this, follow these steps:
   1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
   2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office Server\12.0\Search\Global
   3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
   4. Type SearchRssUsesWssSettings, and then press ENTER.
   5. Right-click SearchRssUsesWssSettings, and then click Modify.
   6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
   7. Exit Registry Editor.
