Article ID: 967676 - Last Review: July 17, 2009 - Revision: 1.1 E-mail address properties of contacts changed through Exchange Web Services (EWS) are not updated in Outlook or Outlook Web Access (OWA) in Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1
SYMPTOMSIn an
Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) environment, Exchange Web Services (EWS) exposes a property of
contacts to enable programmatic modification of the e-mail addresses associated
with the contact. However, if you use EWS
to change an existing contact’s EmailAddress1, EmailAddress2 or EmailAddress3
field, the change does
not occur as expected in Outlook or in
Outlook Web Access (OWA). Additionally,
if you use the EWS application
programming interface (API)
to create a contact that includes the EmailAddress1, the
EmailAddress2 or the
EmailAddress3 field, the contact does
not work correctly within Outlook or within OWA. Note You may see the changes if you check the Details pane of the address in Outlook 2007. CAUSEThis issue occurs because EWS only changes one of the
properties that are associated with the e-mail address
and this change of the property is not reflected in the user interface of
Outlook or of OWA. When this issue occurs, the values of the other properties are shown
in Outlook or in OWA. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, install Update Rollup 9 for
Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1. For more information about Update Rollup 9 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1, see the following Exchange Help topic: Description of Update Rollup 9 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1
