Article ID: 968106 - Last Review: July 17, 2009 - Revision: 1.2 Outlook clients are directed to global catalogs from the wrong domain if you are using a split session configuration in Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1
SYMPTOMSYou deploy Outlook Anywhere for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and you enable Outlook clients to access their mailboxes through an RPC/HTTP proxy server. This is also known as a Client Access server (CAS). However, if you are using a split session configuration, the Outlook clients are directed to global catalogs from the wrong domain. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, install Update Rollup 9 for
Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1. For more information about Update Rollup 9 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1, see the following Exchange Help topic: Description of Update Rollup 9 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1

After you apply this hotfix, you have to set the following registry subkey to resolve the problem: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CCS\Services\MSExchangeSA\Parameters\Change HTTP Referral to IP The default value is “0.” However, you should set the value to "1" to enable the checking of global catalog availability according to split session logic. After you change the registry value, you have to restart the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service. STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section. MORE INFORMATIONFor more information about Outlook Anywhere, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc540453.aspx
