SUMMARY

Microsoft Forefront Security for SharePoint with Service Pack 2 or earlier versions parses all files that you upload to or download from a SharePoint site. Forefront Security for SharePoint parses each file in preparation for a keyword scan regardless of whether keyword lists exist and regardless of whether keyword lists are disabled. This functionality has changed in Forefront Security for SharePoint Security Pack 3 (SP3).

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft Forefront Security for SharePoint SP3 introduces a change in operation. If there are no keyword filter lists or if the keyword lists are disabled, Forefront Security for SharePoint SP3 does not parse a file in preparation for keyword scanning. This behavior uses less memory, decreases scan times, and improves overall performance.
