SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Windows XP, you use smart card authentication to log on. However, when you insert the smart card into the computer and then try to log on, the dialog box to input your PIN code does not appear. Therefore, you cannot use the smart card to log on.

Note When this problem occurs, you may experience any of the following issues:
  • You do not receive an error message.
  • The dialog box does not appear until you restart the computer or restart the Smart Card service.
  • You can log on to the computer only by using the keyboard to input your user credentials.

RESOLUTION
