On a computer using the Windows Media Center TV Pack for Windows Vista, you record a TV show which is broadcast in multiple languages.
You then burn this recorded TV show to a CD or DVD using Windows Media Center, or you play back the recording (WTV file) using Windows Media Player.
During playback of the burned CD/DVD, or when playing the recording using other applications such as Windows Media Player, you may find that the wrong audio track is played. For example, even though you have configured Media Center with your preferred language as English, the recording plays back in a different language.
If you play the original recording (.wtv file) directly in Windows Media Center, the correct audio track is played.
This behavior occurs because there are multiple audio streams included in the recording, but some components (such as the CD/DVD burning component in Media Center, and other software such as Windows Media Player) are not capable of handling multiple audio streams.
As a result, the first available audio stream is used during playback, rather than the audio stream which is configured as the default in Media Center.
Microsoft is aware of this problem and is working to address it in a future release.
