Article ID: 968332 - Last Review: March 3, 2009 - Revision: 1.0 Error message when you try to perform a distributed installation of System Center Operations Manager 2007 Reporting service onto a server: "Cannot validate the account"SYMPTOMSWhen you try to perform a distributed installation of the Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) 2007 Reporting service onto a separate server, you receive the following error message:
Cannot validate the account.
CAUSEThis problem occurs because you cannot install Operations Manager Reporting to a separate server when the conditions that the "Symptoms" section mentions are true. The Setup program tries to add the Local System account to the Operations Manager Data Warehouse. However, because the Local System account uses a different language locale, the Setup program cannot add the account to the Operations Manager Data Warehouse.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, you must change the OpsMgr SDK Service and the OpsMgr Config Service to use a domain account instead of the LocalSystem account.
