SYMPTOMS

A Windows Embedded CE 6.0-based video graphics adapter uses a driver that supports multiple overlay surfaces. When an application calls the UpdateOverlayZOrder method of the IDirectDrawSurface interface to set the Z-order of the overlay surface, the display does not change as expected. Additionally, the pOverlays array that holds the overlay surfaces in the DDRAWI_DIRECTDRAW_GBL structure becomes corrupted. This problem occurs when one of the following flags is used in the UpdateOverlayZOrder method:
  • DDOVERZ_SENDTOBACK
  • DDOVERZ_INSERTINFRONTOF
  • DDOVERZ_INSERTINBACKOF
  • DDOVERZ_SENDTOFRONT

CAUSE

This problem occurs because an index in the pOverlays array in the DDRAWI_DIRECTDRAW_GBL structure is handled incorrectly.
