Audit event 567 is not recorded as expected when a file is created or modified by using a network share on a Windows Server 2003 SP2-based computer

Consider the following scenario:

• You configure a security policy to audit file creations and modifications on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
• You use a network shared folder to create or modify a file on the computer.

In this scenario, the system does not record audit event 567 to report this action as expected. Therefore, you cannot track file creations or modifications that are performed over the network share.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
