SYMPTOMS

When the COM+ Event System detects a corrupted subscription on a Windows Server 2003-based computer, the COM+ Event System stops processing the query for matching subscriptions. If a publisher application raises an event in this situation, valid subscribers do not receive notifications.

When this problem occurs, the return code of the event method is EVENT_S_NOSUBSCRIBERS. This code indicates a successful result. Therefore, no error is logged in the event log.

Note You can confirm the corrupted subscription by verifying that certain subkeys in the following path do not have registry entries:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EventSystem\{26c409cc-ae86-11d1-b616-00805fc79216}\Subscriptions
