SYMPTOMS

You apply hotfix 950886 in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. However, the existing custom security roles are not granted hidden privileges as expected. Therefore, when you try to access the Microsoft Dynamics CRM report, you may receive an error message that resembles the following if you have enabled the Platform tracing functionality:
SecLib::CrmCheckPrivilege failed. Returned hr = -2147220960

RESOLUTION

After you apply this hotfix, you must run the Microsoft.Crm.SE.GrantHiddenPrivileges.exe tool manually from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server under a user account that has Microsoft Dynamics CRM Administrator privileges.

To obtain this tool, manually extract the UR3 package. For example, follow these steps:
  1. Extract the update rollup package to C:\V4UR.
  2. Start a command prompt.
  3. Change directories to drive C by typing the following command:
    cd C:\V4UR\tools\granthiddenprivileges\
  4. Type Microsoft.Crm.SE.GrantHiddenPrivileges.exe, and then press ENTER.
