SYMPTOMS

When you transact the process of importing a product catalog into the Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 Product Catalog resource by using an XML file, one of the following problems occurs.

Problem 1

If the last operation in the imported XML file is a product deletion operation, the scope in the Authorization Manager store is deleted.

For example, the XML file contains the action="delete" entry as the last entry before the Catalog tag. In this situation, the import operation fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
An error occurred on the server during your operation. Try the operation again or contact your administrator if the error persists. The details of the error are captured in the event log on the server.
Additionally, an application event log is generated that resembles the following:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Commerce Server Web Services
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1
Date: <Date>
Time: <Time>
User: N/A
Computer: <Computer name>
Description:
An exception occurred in the 'CatalogWebService' Web service. Exception details follow:

Microsoft.CommerceServer.Catalog.Internal.ScopeDoesNotExistException: Failed to retrieve the AzMan Scope named <Catalog Scope Name>. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007013E): The scope specified was not found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007013E)

When you examine the Authorization Store CatalogAuthorizationStore.xml file, you notice that the catalog scope is removed.

Problem 2

If you transact the process of importing an XML file into a virtual catalog, the import finishes. However, no changes are applied. Additionally, no error message is returned.

Notes
  • When you transact the process of importing a product catalog, a single error in the imported catalog rolls back all updates to the catalog.
  • If you import a product catalog by using Catalog Manager, you can transact the import process by selecting the Advanced option in the Import Product Catalog Wizard, and then enabling the Transact the import process option.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Prerequisites

You must have Commerce Server 2007 Service Pack 2 installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, you must shut down the Commerce Server Catalog Import Host COM+ application after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.

File information

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
