Office 2010 uses Communicator APIs that requires these features from Communicator, and they are available only as part of this hotfix. After you install this hotfix, the features that are discussed in the "Symptoms" section are available.

Office Communicator 2007 R2 CU4 supports interop with the x64 edition of Office Outlook by using Exchange Web Service (EWS) in an Exchange and an Office Communications Server integration environment. By default, Office Communicator uses EWS to download notifications every 15 minutes. These notifications previously relied on MAPI. This enables the following features:

  • History Integration

  • Search for Personal Outlook Contacts in Office Communicator Search and in Outlook Search by using OC in the integration environment

  • Missed IM and Call Notification

Any Office Communicator user interface that requires entry point to x64 edition of Outlook does not work in the integration environment. This includes the following:

  • Right-click on Contact properties to see Outlook properties

  • Right-click on Contact to find previous conversations

  • Right-click to schedule a meeting or send an e-mail

Note All other Integration features work exactly like they work with the x86 edition of Office outlook.
