SYMPTOMS

The MSExchangeIMAP4 and the MSExchangePOP3 services may crash intermittently on a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and that has the following event log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchange Common
Event Category: (1)
Event ID: 4999
Description:
Watson report about to be sent to dw20.exe for process id: <ID>, with parameters: E12, c-buddy-RTL-AMD64, <version number>, M.E.Pop3, M.E.Diagnostics, M.E.D.ExEventLog.LogEvent, System.ArgumentException, 9adf, <version number>. ErrorReportingEnabled: False

CAUSE

A time-out thread that tries to release a connection object that has ended causes the problem.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the following update rollup:
