Article ID: 968910 - Last Review: April 3, 2009 - Revision: 1.0 Communications Server 2007 does not detect the changes when Unified Messaging dial plans or UM servers are added
SYMPTOMSMicrosoft Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007 does not
detect the changes when Exchange Unified Messaging (UM) dial plans or UM
servers are added. Microsoft Unified Communications (UC) enabled users who are
assigned to this new dial plan do not have voice mail access. For example, they
cannot leave voice mail or retrieve their voice mail. Additional functionalities, such as
telephone number dialing, Subscriber Access (SA), and more, may not work
correctly for UC-enabled users. CAUSEThis issue occurs because invalid domain entries are present
in the trusted domains list in Active Directory. OCS 2007 periodically updates
the list of dial plans and UM servers. However, if any domain in the trusted
domain list is unreachable, it assumes that this is a temporary network glitch
and stops the update. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, restart the rtcsrv process on
all OCS 2007 front-end servers. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, apply the following update:

This update fixes the update logic on the OCS 2007
front-end servers to be more resistant to invalid domain entries. It also
enables OCS 2007 to detect the changes without requiring a
restart.STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section. | Other Resources Other Support Sites
