SYMPTOMS

You see the following error message opening Internet Explorer 8:
Internet Explorer 8 is in a special no-add-ons mode so that you can fix a compatibility problem with Weather Channel Toolbar.
If you see this error message after you open Internet Explorer, your current version of the Weather Channel Toolbar is incompatible with Internet Explorer 8. You must update the Weather Channel Toolbar.

RESOLUTION

Install the new version of the Weather Channel Toolbar add-on

Weather Channel Toolbar is an add-on for Internet Explorer that shows weather information. Your version of the Weather Channel Toolbar Internet Explorer add-on is incompatible with Internet Explorer 8.

To resolve this issue, download the new version of Weather Channel Toolbar add-on.

WORKAROUND

Disable the Weather Channel Toolbar add-on

To have us disable the Weather Channel Toolbar add-on for you, go to the "Fix it for me" section. If you would rather fix this problem yourself, go to the "Let me fix it myself" section.

Let me fix it myself


To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Close all Internet Explorer windows.
  2. Open a new Internet Explorer window.
  3. When you see the message that states that the "Weather Channel Toolbar add-on can cause Internet Explorer to crash or to stop responding," Click Always open Internet Explorer without this add-on. The add-on will not be loaded again, and Internet Explorer 8 will work without any issues.
When you click Always open Internet Explorer without this add-on, the add-on is disabled and is not loaded when you start Internet Explorer.
