Compatibility issues with HP Smart Web Printing and Internet Explorer 8

If you are seeing this article after opening Internet Explorer, your current version of HP Smart Web Printing is not compatible with Internet Explorer. You need to update HP Smart Web Printing.

HP Smart Web Printing is an add-on for Internet Explorer that lets you select and print only the content that you want from Web sites. This software is usually installed when you install an HP printer by using the HP Software CD.

Your version of the "HP Smart Web Printing" Internet Explorer add-on is not compatible Internet Explorer 8. To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Update your software

Download an update for HP Smart Web Printing that will work with Internet Explorer 8. To do this, visit the following HP Web site:

Method 2: Disable HP Smart Web Printing

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Close all Internet Explorer windows.
2. Open a new Internet Explorer window.
3. When you see the message that states that the "HP Smart Web Printing add-on can cause Internet Explorer to crash or to stop responding," click Always open Internet Explorer without this add-on. The add-on will not be loaded again, and Internet Explorer 8 will work without any issues.

Note When you click Always open Internet Explorer without this add-on, the add-on is just disabled and is not loaded when you start Internet Explorer.
