Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have the following software installed:
  • Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Administration Tools
  • Microsoft SQL Client Tools
    • If you decide to install SQL 2008 Client Tools, SQL 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2) Backward Compatibility must also be installed.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this update package.

To use one of the update packages in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.

Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Standard Edition

Install this update on any of the following servers that are running Communications Server 2007 R2:
  • Standard Edition Server
  • Director (Standard Edition)
To install this update, run the OCS2009-DBUpgrade.msi file directly.

Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Enterprise Edition

You can install database update from the EE Back-end or the EE Front end. However, we recommended that you run the database update from the Back-end.

Before you install the update make sure that the prerequisites that are required for the update are installed. Updates for the Enterprise Edition database can be applied by running the following command:
OCS2009-DBUpgrade.msi POOLNAME=Poolname
Where Poolname is the Enterprise Edition Pool name.

Removal information

This update cannot be removed unless you remove Communications Server 2007 R2. Then, you must use the original Communications Server 2007 R2 installation media to reinstall Communications Server 2007 R2. The following instructions only help you remove the update from the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel.

Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Standard Edition

Remove the update listing for this hotfix by using Add or Remove Programs on any of the following servers that are running Communications Server 2007 R2 on which this update was installed:
  • Standard Edition Server
  • Director (Standard Edition)
To remove this update listing for this hotfix from Add or Remove Programs, run the OCS2009-DBUpgrade.msi file.

Note Click OK in the following message to run and remove the entry for this update from Add or Remove Programs:
Warning 25000.

This hotfix made changes to the database schema that cannot be removed. If you proceed, you will remove the hotfix from the Add/Remove Programs list, but the changes will remain in the database schema. Do you want to proceed?

Remove the update listing for this hotfix from Add or Remove Programs from any of the following servers that are running Office Communications Server 2007 R2 on which this update was installed:
  • Enterprise Edition (Back-end)
  • Director (Enterprise Edition) Back-end
Remove the update listing for this hotfix from Add or Remove Programs on the back-end Microsoft SQL Server servers that are hosting the databases for Communications Server 2007 R2, Enterprise Edition. To do this, run the following command:
OCS2009-DBUpgrade.msi POOLNAME=poolname
Note Click OK in the following message to run and remove the entry for this update from Add or Remove Programs:
