Known issues with this security update

After you install this security update on a computer that is running Windows XP and that is using an ATI Radeon HD 2400 series video adapter, you may find that the computer does not start correctly. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

Restart the computer in safe mode. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Restart the computer.
2. When you see the "Please select the operating system to start" message, press F8.
3. On the Windows Advanced Option Menu, use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
4. If you use a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select Microsoft Windows XP from the list, and then press ENTER.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Add or Remove Programs, and then click to select the Show updates check box.
Scroll down to locate the "Windows XP – Software Updates" section.
Click Security Update for Windows XP (KB969947) from the list, and then click Remove.
Restart the computer.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
Click the ATI driver in the list, and then click Remove.
Click Catalyst Control Center in the list, and then click Remove.
Restart the computer.
Visit the following Windows Update Web page and install security update 969947 (MS09-065):

Download and install the latest ATI video driver from the ATI Web site.
