SYMPTOMS

When you run a full crawl on Business Data Catalog (BDC) data source in Office SharePoint Server 2007, the crawl may fail intermittently. When this occurs, error 0X80040E14 is logged in crawl log. The full text of this 0X80040E14 error is as follows:
The definition of object ‘proc_MSS_Flushtemp0’ has changed since it was compiled.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, apply both the following updates:
  • 968857  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968857/ ) Description of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 hotfix package (Sts.msp): April 28, 2009
  • 968859  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968859/ ) Description of the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 hotfix package (Coreserver.msp): April 30, 2009
