This article describes the Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated April 28, 2009.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • You have a PowerPoint 2003 presentation that is stored on a SharePoint library. You open this presentation in read-only mode, and then you click a link in the presentation to open another presentation that is also stored on a SharePoint library. When the linked presentation is over, the show closes and returns to the design mode of the first presentation. However, you expect to return to the slide from which you started the second presentation in presentation mode.

    To fix this problem, you must enable the hotfix package after you apply the hotfix. To do this, follow these steps:Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.     1. In Windows Vista, click Start

      , type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

      User Account Control permission
      If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

      In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\Options
    3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    4. Type SuppressWebUI, and then press ENTER.
    5. Right-click SuppressWebUI, and then click Modify.
    6. In the Value data box, type a non-zero value, and then click OK.
    7. Exit Registry Editor.
  • After you apply the security update that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 955466, you cannot enable the embedded Excel OLE objects that contain empty VBA projects in the PowerPoint 2003 presentation.
