Article ID: 970487 - Last Review: June 9, 2009 - Revision: 1.0 The temporary Internet file cache grows without a limit when a Silverlight application continues to run in Internet ExplorerOn This PageSYMPTOMSWhen a Silverlight application makes Web service calls to Web resources without moving away from the current Web page, the temporary Internet file (TIF) cache will grow without a limit. Eventually, the hard disk will fill up. This issue occurs in Internet Explorer 7 and in Internet Explorer 6. CAUSEThis issue occurs because the scavenger thread that empties the TIF cache does not run unless you browse to another page. If you remain on a single page that is running a Silverlight application, and a Silverlight application downloads Web content, Web resources are stored in the TIF cache. In this scenario the TIF cache will grow without a limit. RESOLUTIONSecurity update informationTo resolve this problem, install the most current cumulative security update for Internet Explorer.
