When attempting to perform a File Backup on a Windows Vista-based computer the backup may fail with the error code:
Error: 0x81000008 “The backup disk has a corrupted file system. Fix it using the disk error checking tool, or choose a different backup location.”
This error can occur if there are file system issues on the disk selected for the file backup location.
To resolve the issue you will need to check the backup disk for errors or select a different backup location. To check the backup location for errors follow these steps:
1. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, right-click cmd.exe in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
2. At the command prompt, type the following, and then press ENTER:
Chkdsk.exe /F /X m:
Where m: is the driver letter of the Backup destination.
3. Close the Cmd.exe window and run the backup again
