FIX: When you click Reanalyze Project in Solution Explorer repeatedly in a Microsoft SQL Server database project, the Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR IDE crashes

SYMPTOMS

You open a Microsoft SQL Server database project in the Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR IDE. When you click Reanalyze Project in Solution Explorer repeatedly, the IDE crashes.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Windows search indexer or a virus scanner locks the old .dbmdl file when you click Reanalyze Project. Then, the old .dbmdl file becomes inaccessible and results in an IOException.

RESOLUTION
