SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR, you select the check boxes in the Schema Compare Options dialog box to ignore database role members. However, the database role members are not ignored as expected. For example, you experience the problem when you perform the following actions:
  • You create a database and add a user and then you add a role to it.
  • You add the user as a member of the role.
  • You create a database project in the Visual Studio IDE.
  • You set the database as the source schema and the project as the target schema.
  • You perform the Schema Compare operation.
  • In the Schema Compare Options dialog box, you select the Users check box and the Database Roles check box in the Object Types pane to ignore the users object type and the database roles object type.
  • Then, you perform the Schema Compare operation again.
After you perform these actions, the "drop" scripts for the database role members are not deleted in the Schema Update Script dialog box as expected.
