SYMPTOMS

The Schema Compare option Only compare elements that exist in the source under the General tab has no affect in the Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR. For example, you perform the following actions:
  • You generate the script of a table from a Microsoft SQL Server database to a file, and import the script file to a database project.
  • You create a new schema comparison. You set the project as the source schema and the database as the target schema.
  • In the New Schema Comparison dialog box, you click the Options button to open the Schema Compare Options window. You expand the Comparison options node in the General tab.
  • Then, you select the Only compare elements that exist in the source check box.
In this example, when the schema comparison operation is complete, the scripted table is displayed as the equal object together with the Skip update action as expected. However, you find that other tables in the database are displayed as missing objects together with the Drop update action.

RESOLUTION
