SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install a System Center Configuration Manager 2007 site server on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008. You synchronize the latest software update cataloge in the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 console.
  • In the Update Repository, you create a new search folder under Software Updates. You run a search query by using the Windows Vista Dynamic Installer, the Windows Ultimate Extras, the Windows Vista Ultimate Language Tools or the Windows Vista criteria.
  • You click the search folder. You note the memory usage for the Wmiprvse.exe process.
  • You close the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 console. You notice that the memory allocated for the Wmiprvse.exe process does not decrease.
  • You reopen the console and run the search query again. You notice that the memory usage for for the Wmiprvse.exe process has increased by approximately 30 to 40 MB.
In this scenario, every time that you run a search query the memory allocation for the Wmiprvse.exe process grows by approximately 30 to 40 MB. The memory is never released.

RESOLUTION
