SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, after you enable or disable the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator in Device Manager, you receive the following Stop error message:

STOP 0x00000050 (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
Notes
  • The four parameters in this error message vary, depending on the configuration of the computer.
  • This problem does not cause all "Stop 0x00000050" errors.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by a problem in the Human Interface Device (HID) class driver (Hidclass.sys).

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. How to obtain the latest Windows Vista service pack

No prerequisites are required for computers that are running Windows Server 2008.

Note You can only apply this hotfix on a system that does not have Windows Vista Feature Pack for Wireless installed. Windows Vista Feature Pack for Wireless is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 942567.

You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
