to the document or you do not save the document, Word 2007 crashes when you
close the document.
- The Word 2007 spelling checker incorrectly handles words
that contain nonbreaking hyphens.
Note This issue is resolved by installing both this hotfix and the
hotfix found in KB 972563.

Description of the Word 2007 hotfix package (NlgMsProof.msp): June 30, 2009
- In a Word 2007 document, you set a password in the
Password to modify field in the General
Options dialog box. If you open the document in Word 2007, the
Password dialog box appears. However, if you open the document
through Internet Explorer, the Password dialog box does not
appear.
- You have a document that contains em or en space
characters. After you copy and paste the text that contains the em or en space
characters, the fonts on em or en may change.
- The results of compared documents do not keep tracked
changes if the documents include equations.
- In a Rich Text Format (RTF) e-mail message, when you
insert a hyperlink into a file, the double-byte character set file name is
corrupted.
- Word 2007 does not respond to mouse-clicks in the main
document window when you embed Word 2007 in a custom application.
- When you use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) to communicate
with Word 2007, the connection cannot be established if the topic is the file
path of a Word document from a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) share.
Additionally, when you start the DDE Initiate call, you receive an error from
Word if the topic is the UNC path of the Word document that is opened.
- When you create a RTF e-mail message, and then copy some
contents from a Word document, you cannot open the e-mail message in Outlook
2007.
- On a computer that is running a Japanese version of
Windows, when you edit a document in the Japanese version of Word 2007, you
receive a "STOP 0x50" error message.
- You develop a macro to generate a document that contains a
DocVariable field in Word 2007. The field is used to display a document
variable inside a document and the variable value contains a carriage return.
When you save the file in the .docx format, the carriage return is lost.
- After you install security update MS08-072 for Word 2007,
you cannot open certain .docx files. Additionally, you receive the following
error message:
Unspecified error
Location: Part: /word/document.xml, Line:
LineNumber, Column:
ColumnNumber
- In the unprotected sections of a Word 2007 document, the
Building Blocks Organizer option is unavailable in the
Quick Parts list in the Text group on the
Insert tab.
- In a Word 2007 document, if you format a page by using a
three-column layout and you set the vertical alignment to justified, the text
on the page overlaps.
- In Word 2007, the Word 6.0/95 (*.doc) file format is
upgraded to the .docx file format automatically.
- You create an OpenDocument Format document in WordPad. If
you open this document in Word 2007, the font changes.
- On some Dell portable computers, the list in the
Suggestions section in the Spelling and
Grammar dialog box is unavailable.
- Links in Word documents to Excel ranges do not update
automatically when data is changed in Excel.
Note This issue is resolved by installing both this hotfix and the
hotfix found in KB 969952.
