SUMMARY

This article describes the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 issues that are fixed in the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 hotfix package that is dated June 30, 2009.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • When you are using reusable content and perform a content deployment, only one version of the reusable content is preserved on the target site. It will always be the latest version on the source site regardless of whether the latest version is approved or not.
  • You are using a computer that is in a different time zone than the computer that is running the SharePoint Web application. If you submit content for approval, or if you check in a shared draft, the start date of the SharePoint document changes.
  • The row count of the AllLinks table in a destination Web application database grows 2 rows after each deployment. However, the row count should not grow.
  • You have a "Business Data" type column in a SharePoint list. You try to edit a list item and then you click BDC Picker to set a value for the column. However, the picker generates a URL that contains non-RFC complaint values. Therefore, you cannot use the picker if the SharePoint server is located behind a proxy or behind a firewall that blocks URLs that contain non-RFC complaint values.
  • You use SharePoint and InfoPath to create Word document templates. You use the DIP (document information panel) in Word with Word documents. You change the data type of one or more than one site columns. When the data type of the site columns is updated, the DIP must also be updated to display the new columns. However, InfoPath fails when it tries to update the DIP.
  • When you click Send To, and then click Other Location to send a document in a Document Library, you receive the following error message:
Copying to the destination did not complete successfully.
  • You enable Auditing on a Site Collection for "Editing users and permissions". Then, permissions are changed on an item, for example, breaking inheritance or setting permissions to inherit. In this case, a wrong ScopeID is written to the <scope></scope> area of the EventData column in dbo.AuditData.

In a scenario where an item has a broken inheritance for its unique permissions the old ScopeIdinherited from its parent list is written to the EventData column of dbo.AuditData table instead of the new unique ScopeId generated for the item.

In a scenario where an item is set to inherit permissions, the old ScopeId of the item (which was unique) is written to the EventData column of the dbo.AuditData table instead of the ScopeId inherited from its parent list.
  • After you apply this update, you create an alert for a user. Then, the Display alert for list should list the user name and the user account. Before you apply this update, the Display alert for list should list the user account after you create an alert for a user.
  • When you try to do a search in a SharePoint site, the scope "This List: Name of list, doclib etc." for a particular listis missing. This issue occurs because you are using the Extended Web Applications and the Alternative Access Mapping (AAM) settings.
  • In an extranet deployment scenario in SharePoint, the URLs to access SharePoint internally and the URLs to access SharePoint externally are different. You access the SharePoint externally, you visit a page that contains a list view Web part, you edit the list view Web part, and then you click the Edit current view link. However, when you click Cancel to go back to the previous page, you receive a "file not found" error message. Additionally, when you examine the URL in the Internet Explorer address bar, it displays an internal URL.
  • You have a SharePoint list that has more than 500 items. The list has a column of "People and Groups" type with the "Allow multiple selections" setting set to "Yes". If you click Show Filter Choices in this list, you receive the following error message:
    #RENDER FAILED
  • Workflows do not recognize users from the Membership Provider in the SharePoint Designer when Forms-based Authentication (FBA) is enabled.
  • When you try to upload a .mht file generated by a third-party application to a SharePoint document library, you receive the following error message:
    No "boundary" in CGI environment.
Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services.
  • You use the "Site Warning Level" and the "Maximum number of Sites" settings on a content database to control how to create sites in a database. However, when you add a content database by using Central Administration or the stsadm -o addcontentdb command, if the value that you specify in WarningSiteCount or the value that you specify in MaximumSiteCount is less than or equal to the current number of sites in the content database, the values that you specified are not used. Instead, the following values are set:
    • WarningSiteCount = CurrentSiteCount + 500
    • MaximumSiteCount = CurrentSiteCount + 1000
For example., you add a content database that uses 1 site, a site level warning of 0, and a maximum number of sites of 1, by using the following stsadm -o addcontentdb command:
    stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://<serverurl> -databasename <database_name> -sitewarning 0 -sitemax 1
In this example, the database will be added, but the site level warning will be 501 instead of your specified value (0), and the maximum number of sites will be 1001 instead of your specified value (1). However, when the database is added you can use to Central Admin and edit the values as you want. The values here are only enforced when a content database that already has sites is added. You must do this using through Central Admin because the stsadm command cannot edit the settings on a database that has already been added.

After you install this update, the Site Warning Level will be set to 0 and the Maximum Number of Sites will be set to 1 as specified by running the stsadm -o addcontentdb command.
  • You use a computer that is running Windows Vista in a domain that has an "&" in its NetBIOS domain name. When you try to use this computer to checkin a document into a SharePoint document, you receive the following error message:
This document was checked out to your local drafts folder but the local copy could not be checked in to the site. Close any application that is editing the document and try to check in again, or discard the checkout.
  • Changes to the Allow Unlimited Length in Document Libraries setting are not saved on the site columns. This setting can only be changed on document libraries.
  • If you send recurring appointment E-mail messages from IBM Lotus Notes to an E-mail enabled SharePoint Calendar list, the appointments are created by using an incorrect enddate. Therefore, the duration of the appointments is always incorrect.
  • You move a sub-site to a new location, and then you delete its earlier parent site. In this case, the incremental deployment job fails, and your receive the following error message:
Error deleting Web site "/ParentSite/SubSite". You can't delete a site that has subsites.
  • The following workflow JavaScript alert is not property translated into French:
"approve_CancleWorkflow_alert": A content approval workflow is currently running to approve this item. If you continue this action, you will cancel the workflow.
  • You use the Group By option in the People and Groups list, and then you set the group to "Collapsed by default". However, when you try to expand the group, it cannot be expanded.
  • When you restore a host header site collection from a backup to a new host header site collection, the host header value in the restored site collection is still the host header of the old site. After you restore the site collection, if you detach and reattach the content database of the restored site collection, the restored site collection is no longer available and will be left orphan.
  • When a SharePoint user creates a circular loop between lookup columns, if you click one of the lists that contain lookup columns, this action will cause 100% CPU usage on the SharePoint server. To work around this issue, you have to perform an application pool recycle.
  • You edit a SharePoint list in Datasheet view. When you rest your mouse on a navigation item in the top navigation bar, the navigation flyout menus do not appear.
  • When you create a DataFormWebPart in SharePoint Designer on a Czech language site and then you sort and filter column headers, the sorting and filtering is not applied to the DataFormWebPart Web part.
  • After you install the updates described in KB 960010 and KB 960011, the Request Access functionality no longer functions for Active Directory accounts that have display name fields that contains '{' or '}'.
  • You experience poor performance when you use the stsadm -o export command to export large sites.
  • If you rename a .doc file in the Document Library, the custom non-text properties of the .doc file change to a text type and lose their values. The custom properties are only created in the .doc file and there are no custom columns for the properties in the Document Library.
  • When you edit a detached page in the pages library and then click Modify Shared Web Part, you are redirected to a "This page has been modified since you opened it" page.
  • You use multi-value lookup values in a SharePoint list. However, you notice that some documents in the SharePoint list are unpublished. The multiple value lookup values in the AllUserDataJunctions table are still present and flagged as current version documents and are not marked to be deleted. Therefore, multiple value lookup values become orphans. In this case, if you use the stsadm -o export command, the export phase of the content deployment will fail.
  • In the issue tracking list, you can open and save an attachment successfully for the first time, but when you try to save the attachment again, you receive the following error message:
The Internet Address <URL> is not valid.
  • In SharePoint document libraries that have versioning enabled, if you upload a new document and enter text in the Version Comments text box, the text you entered in the Version Comments text box will be lost, and will not be visible when you view the version history of the document.
  • Incremental content deployment from a source Microsoft Office SharePoint Sever (MOSS) 2007 farm to a target MOSS 2007 farm fails intermittently with SQL deadlock errors.
  • You can display pictures from E-mail messages in an E-mail enabled "Discussion board". However, if users reply to your E-mail and insert pictures, the pictures from the replied E-mail message are displayed as "X" in the Discussion Board.
  • You install the Hotfix package described in KB 968850. However, when you click Site Action in a SharePoint site, the menu in the Site Action is expanded to the same width as the Web page.
  • You create immediate alerts and scheduled alerts on document libraries at the library level. You receive an initial E-mail indicates that a message alert is created. However, you cannot receive alerts for all the documents. This issue occurs in Contributor and Reader when major and minor versioning is enabled on the document library.
  • As a site administrator, when you use "Managed checked out files" to take ownership of documents checked out by other users in a Document Library that has 9 or more datetime columns, you receive the following message:
Some of the files cannot be checked out by you. They have been deleted or checked in by other users.
If you select more than one file to assume ownership, you notice that the operation succeeds only for the first file.
  • You have a SharePoint document library with the Major and Minor Version History option enabled. You also set the Only users who can edit items should see draft items option to "Who should see draft items in this document library?". If you use the "Get document" RPC method to download the drafts programmatically, it does not return the Draft Version.
  • Search query summary results are not rendered correctly when they contain Hexadecimal escaped characters. For example, a hexadecimal escaped character is displayed as "á".
  • Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 supports the Irish and Welsh locales after you install the Hotfix package described in KB969421. However, after you select one of the new locale, you have to manually change the time format to 24 hours to make the new locales work correctly. After you install this update, you do not have to perform this time format change.
  • You configure a SharePoint server to accept incoming E-mail messages. You notice that incoming E-mail messages are processed based on their alphabetical order in the Drop folder. However, you want the incoming E-mail messages to be processed according to their order of creation in the Drop folder.
  • SPList.GetItems(SPQuery) fails when the item count reaches the threshold value 2000, and you will receive the following error message:
Exception occurred. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020009 (DISP_E_EXCEPTION))
  • When a list is broken in your site, you cannot start a crawl successfully, and you receive the following error message in the crawler log:
Crawling fails with "List does not exist" error Indexing and crawling failed with the following error: Crawling failed with an error for this URL: Error 0x81020026 The SharePoint list pointed to by this URL does not exist. Verify that it can be accessed using an internet browser. (List does not exist The page you selected contains a list that does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user.)
However, you cannot delete the broken list by using the stsadm -o forcedeletelist -url http://servername:port/sites/sitename/listname command.
  • 971890 Managed properties return null values when the Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Query.TrimDuplicates property equals false and the Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Query.RowLimit property exceeds a certain value in SharePoint Server 2007
  • 971496 HTTP crawl, Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) crawl and Exchange crawl do not work correctly in Windows 7
  • 972043 If you take some SharePoint files offline, performance is very slow when you perform a full crawl for the remaining online files
  • 970307 An index corruption occurs when you crawl the content sources on a Windows Server 2008-based computer or a Windows 7-based computer that is running Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 or Office SharePoint Server 2007, and a power outage occurs on the computer
  • 971532 Indexes are corrupted if you configure SharePoint Server 2007 as a query server to crawl content and to serve queries
  • 972456 Search results randomly do not show the correct icons for Microsoft Office documents in SharePoint sites
  • 972360 HTTP crawl, Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) crawl and Exchange crawl do not work correctly in Windows 7
  • 972046 You cannot create query restrictions on Boolean-managed properties that have Yes/No restrictions or that have True/False restrictions in SharePoint sites
  • 972539 The Advanced Search page returns no results when the Search Center is running under the Vietnamese regional setting in Office SharePoint Server 2007
  • 972479 If you send a Rich Text Format (RTF) e-mail message that contains a Word document attachment to an e-mail enabled document library, the Word document attachment is not added to the e-mail enabled document library
  • 972535 You cannot view a forms-based authentication Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site if you have Office Live Update 1.2 for Microsoft Office Live Workspace installed
  • 971025 The lookup columns in a SharePoint list return empty fields when the list item count exceeds 1000 items in a Windows SharePoint Service 3.0 site
